Poe's law or the dangers of satire + inclusion tools for RPGing
Poe's law indicates that "Without a clear indicator of the author's intent, it is impossible to create a parody of extreme views so obviously exaggerated that it cannot be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of the views being parodied".
This game is pure satire (as is the 40k lore even though some people don't seem to notice). The Holy inquisition, however, was a real thing. Witchhunting was a real thing. They (probably all of them white men) tortured and killed massive ammounts of people (mostly women), and imposed their views by force and terror. Then, they called it being heretics, which means differing in opinion or being able to choose (hairetikos).
I want to be clear: as much as I enjoy epic stories of power the universe portrayed in this RPG (which mimics the one in 40k) ISN'T desirable, should NOT happen; that sci-fi human empire is literally fascist and we should do as much as we can to become something better than that.
In the movie Akelarre you can see an inquisition case from the point of view of the victims, I recommend it.
With that said, I also noticed that in my RPGs I don't mention any tools to ensure the wellbeing of the players. It's pretty much out of my field but I can easily pass this link:
